Explorers Wanted in the Jungle

Mount an expedition through the rainforest to search for the ruins of a lost city. This is said to lie in the mountainous headwaters of the Rio Venomoso- the ‘poisonous river’. The Namweyo tribe of Indians who live in the region have long told stories of stone buildings deep in the jungle. They call the ruins ‘Rucu-rumimarca’ which means ‘old city of stone’ in the ancient language of the Quechua people of the highlands. The Namweyos say the spirits of the dead haunt the ruins. Chewed bones have been found amongst the overgrown stonework and a low pitched growling has often been heard there at night. Because of this the Indians will not go near the place.

Is Rucu-rumimarca all that remains of some long lost civilisation? Are there archaeological treasures to find? Maybe there’s gold!
